Bio

Something Heavy is a Hard-Rock/Metal/Electronic band from Long Island, New York that draws influence from bands like Deftones, A Day To Remember, Of Mice and Men, I See Stars and more creating a hard-rock and metal sound with the addition of electronic and midi music to set them apart. Aggressive dirtyvocals mixed with clean catchy soaring hooks tie the whole package together.

The band started in the summer of 2019 when former band mates, Mike Wahmann (Lead Vocals) and AJ Vekas (Drums) got together to work on a collection of songs written at the beginning of the year. Despite the long layoff of playing together, Mike and AJ picked up where they left off, demoing 10 brand new songs together and getting them show and recording ready with Michael Andrew (Guitar) to complete the lineup.

Despite being a newer band, these three musicians are no stranger to a national stage with opening slots for bands like Sponge, Sevendust, Maroon 5, Trust Company, Puddle of Mudd, Everlast and others to their credit. All have played at national level venues throughout the East Coast such as The Knitting Factory in New York City, Revolution in Amityville, NY and Stereo Garden in Patchogue, NY.  The band planned for extensive touring prior to the COVID-19 pandemic but then carved out an online and social media presence with live streams in support of their singles "Escape," "First Time This is the Last Time," and "Alone" that came out in the first quarter of the year.

The band continues to release more video content in conjunction with the Strangerhood TV YouTube Channel as well as live streams for their fans as they wait to go back out on the road.  In the fall of 2020 Something Heavy will be releasing a new batch of singles to round out the year starting with "The Weight" on October 1st as they head into the new year.
